Hosea 01:4-9- CHILDREN NAMED BY GOD

Hosea 10:12 BREAKING UP NEW GROUND IN A NEW YEAR

Hosea 01:4-9- CHILDREN NAMED BY GOD

And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel. And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away. But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son. Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God (Hosea 1:4-9).

Sometimes God gives Parents Difficult Task:

Hosea had a Difficult tasks given by God (Marry a harlot)

Abraham’s Difficult Task (Kill the child I have given you).

Mary’s Difficult Task (Have a child conceived by the Holy Spirit)

CHILDREN NAMED BY GOD:

Ge 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

Ge 17:19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isa 8:3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.

Mt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Lu 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Hosea 10:12 BREAKING UP NEW GROUND IN A NEW YEAR

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

[PROPHECY POINT- Jesus was probably born in 6BC. Herod died in 4BC and we know he killed the babies 2 years after the birth of Christ. That means that tomorrow is actually the year 2000AD!!!]

This church is entering the most dangerous time in the life of a Church; the completion of a building project. With that in mind I want us to look to the New Year as a time of New Vision and New Victories instead of simply rejoicing in what God has done in 1993.

Fallow Ground = New Ground, Untilled Soil.

I. REMOVE ALL THE TREES- Can’t see the forest (Real Need) for the trees. These trees are things that keep us from seeing God: Selfish desires. Someone else’s sin.

Can be good- Zachesus met Jesus up one, Thief on Cross found Christ on one. But Beware of Trees- Eve ate, Absalom got hair caught in, Prophet stopped under, Elijah pouted under.

II. REMOVE THE UNDERBRUSH- The “Little Sins” that snag and trip us (Roach in my sandwich, bug in my tea). Talk (One match starts forest fire), Temper, Time (Patience)

III. REMOVE THE STUMPS- The Big Obstacles in our way. These can become Bondage Builders:

1. Fear- Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

2. Bitterness- Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

3. Lust- Addiction to desires of flesh (Fast, TV-less Tuesday)

4. Riches- Rich young ruler (Depend on God)

IV. PLOW THE NEW GROUND- Get to work. Stop talking. Stop Planning. Start Plowing. When you put your hand to the plow don’t look back (Dedication). The only way to plow straight rows is to keep looking ahead and keep your eyes on Jesus (who never changes- same yesterday, today, and forever).

V. PLANT A CROP- Sow in righteousness. The Seed is the Word of God. Spread it everywhere. (Some will be eaten by birds, some will fall on rocks, some will be choked by weeds, but some will bear fruit so spread a lot).

VI. SEEK GOD UNTIL HE GIVES THE INCREASE- Never give up, Never give up, never give up. Souls are dying, men are crying, won’t you lead them to the cross. Seek the Lord TIL He come and rain righteousness upon you.

Bring your trees, underbrush, and stumps to the altar and allow the fire of God’s holiness to burn them up. Put them in the fire before they put you in the fire!!

Don’t leave here tonight lost- Your new ground is the new birth. Don’t start another year without getting right with God.
